PO CHENG TSAI
Po-Cheng, TSAI, founder and artistic director of B.DANCE, is a choreographer of international acclaim in the contemporary dance scene. Renowned for his precise and expressive kinetic language and poetic aesthetics, which skillfully transform the body’s into a universally relatable narrative language, he explores the depths of the fluid relationship between memory, humanity and collective consciousness, and has established a highly-recognizable artistic identity.
He has presented his works worldwide in 128 cities across 28 countries, invited by numerous prestigious international arts festivals at some of the world’s preeminent theaters. Owing to his exceptional creative talent, he has won four famous international choreographic competitions, winning second-place in another one, and has received numerous accolades from rigorous European critics, including being named "Choreographer of the Year" by the authoritative German dance magazine tanz and receiving the "Emerging Choreographer of the Year" award from the French Performing Arts Critics' Association. In recent years, he has been recognized as one of the “Ten Outstanding Young Persons” of the Republic of China, and received the "Taiwan-France Cultural Award" in 2024, yet another demonstration of his undeniable international influence.
Beyond the stage, Po-Cheng, TSAI actively seeks to expand interdisciplinary collaborations, viewing dance as a means of understanding and engaging in dialogue with the contemporary world. With his fully conscious creative practice, Po-Cheng continues to leave his indelible artistic mark on the international dance scene, establishing himself as a visionary: an essential, compelling leader in contemporary dance.
