ABOUT

Po-Cheng Tsai, the Founder and Artistic Director of B.DANCE, stands as a distinguished and visionary figure in the global contemporary dance scene. His creative work spans the realms of theatrical art and cultural narrative, utilizing the body as a core medium to forge a highly recognizable contemporary movement vocabulary. Renowned for his precise, powerful, and poetic physical aesthetics, Tsai’s work deeply interrogates the fluid relationship between the body, memory, and humanity, offering a sensitive response to individual existence and spiritual coordinates within an ever-changing era.

His artistic footprint extends across 28 countries and 128 cities, with frequent invitations to world-class arts festivals and top-tier theaters, cementing a profound and expanding influence throughout Europe and the global dance community. Built upon a foundation of exceptional creative prowess, Tsai has swept four gold and one silver medals at major international choreography competitions, establishing a formidable reputation early in his illustrious career.

Tsai excels at transforming the physical form into a universal narrative language, allowing his works to transcend cultural boundaries and resonate deeply with the senses and emotions of audiences worldwide. His practice goes beyond the pursuit of formal and aesthetic excellence; it seeks to weave connections between the individual and the collective, launching profound inquiries into identity, memory, and the collective subconscious of contemporary society.

This singular artistic achievement has garnered widespread international acclaim. Named "Choreographer of the Year" by Germany’s authoritative tanz magazine and recipient of the Grand Prix for "Emerging Choreographer of the Year" from the French Association of Performing Arts Critics, Tsai is highly esteemed within Europe’s rigorous critical circles. In recent years, he was honored as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons in Taiwan and was further distinguished in 2024 with The French-Taiwanese Cultural Foundation Award, recognizing his extraordinary contributions to international cultural exchange and contemporary artistic practice.

Beyond his theatrical creations, Tsai is dedicated to expanding the boundaries between dance and contemporary society. Through diverse cross-disciplinary collaborations and international exchange initiatives, he continuously explores the infinite possibilities of dance as a contemporary language. In his artistic philosophy, dance is never merely a form of performance but a method of understanding the world—a way to engage in the perception, reflection, and resonance of life through the dimension of the body.

With a highly self-aware creative practice, Po-Cheng Tsai continues to leave a piercing artistic mark on the international stage, solidifying his position as an indispensable and visionary leader in the world of contemporary dance.
